Space for something different

Less measuring up.
More room to be yourself.

An interest you want to follow, a choice that feels like yours, or time with people around whom you can exhale. There is space to explore what matters to you.

  • Two women sharing a moment while making pottery in a community studio
    Space to follow your curiosity.
  • A woman reading in a leafy courtyard
Time that can be your own.
  • A woman walking along an open lakeshore in morning light
A direction that feels like yours.

Understanding self-esteem & identity

When your own voice
gets hard to hear.

You might question your decisions, compare yourself with others, or feel that being accepted depends on getting everything right.

Self-esteem is connected to how you see and value yourself. Criticism, relationships, and life experiences can influence that view; questioning your worth can make everyday choices feel harder.

Questions of identity may involve values, culture, relationships, roles, or belonging. Exploring who you are is not, in itself, a problem that needs to be fixed.

Therapy offers room to consider the stories you have learned about yourself and which ones still fit. You do not need a settled answer about who you are before beginning.

Self-Esteem & Identity FAQ

A little more clarity
before you begin.

A few answers to help you consider the next step, at your own pace.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to change?

No. You might begin with self-doubt, feeling disconnected from yourself, or a question you cannot quite put into words. We can take time to understand what you would like support with.

Can we talk about identity and belonging?

Yes. You can bring questions about values, culture, roles, relationships, or belonging. You set the terms for how you describe yourself, and we can discuss the therapist’s experience with what you want to explore.

Is this about becoming more outgoing?

Your goals do not have to involve changing your personality. The work might focus on self-understanding, boundaries, or feeling more able to make choices that reflect what matters to you.

What if I am very hard on myself?

You do not need to arrive feeling positive about yourself. We can begin by noticing self-critical patterns and exploring how they affect your life, without adding another expectation to get therapy right.

Can self-esteem overlap with other concerns?

You can bring overlapping experiences, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, or low mood. We will discuss your circumstances and consider an approach that fits the whole picture.

Is virtual support available in Ontario?
